SVEB 1 Bern - SVEB Certificate: What is an adult educator/vocational trainer?

Choosing the right profession can be a difficult decision, both for school graduates just starting their education and for professionals looking for new challenges. One option that is often considered is becoming a teacher. This profession offers many benefits and has great appeal.

One of the biggest advantages is that you can impart your knowledge to other people and thus make a meaningful contribution. In addition, being a teacher allows you to work intensively in a subject area that interests you personally and to constantly educate yourself. One can then pass on the newly acquired knowledge to others and in the process meet interesting people and help them to develop further.

When you hear the term "teacher," the first thing that comes to mind is often working with children or teenagers. But there are other options as well. As an adult educator or vocational trainer, one has the opportunity to support and accompany adults in their learning. Here, the SVEB certificate is of great importance. This certificate confirms that you have the necessary skills to successfully teach and support adults.

The SVEB certificate includes various courses and training that provide a teacher with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach adults effectively. This includes, for example, understanding the learning needs of adults, creating learning plans and programs, and delivering lessons. With an SVEB certificate, you can identify yourself as a competent and qualified adult educator or vocational instructor and expand your career opportunities.

However, there are many ways to become a trainer and it is advantageous to have the necessary didactic know-how. The SVEB certificate "Trainer - Conducting Learning Events" (formerly known as SVEB I), which is recognized throughout Switzerland, offers the opportunity to prove oneself as a competent and expert vocational trainer and to increase the chance of finding a job in this field.

In addition, there is the EUROLTA certificate, which was developed specifically for teachers who wish to offer language instruction to adults. The EUROLTA certificate, which is recognized throughout Europe, covers the same didactic competencies as the SVEB certificate course. It is often available after successful completion of the SVEB course for an additional fee. In the near future, the educational institute ILS also plans to offer the EUROLTA certificate in addition to the SVEB certificate.
