What exactly is SVEB?

The SVEB is an association for continuing education in Switzerland. It was founded in 1951 and was then called "Swiss Association for Adult Education". The association's goal is to coordinate various continuing education institutions and to ensure a high quality of continuing education in Switzerland.

The SVEB also represents industry interests in politics and works with continuing education institutions and the federal government to create framework conditions for professional certifications that are recognized throughout Switzerland.

The association has over 766 members consisting of private and government providers, associations, in-house training departments and individuals. SVEB 's headquarters are in Zurich, with regional secretariats in French and Italian-speaking Switzerland.

Who makes decisions within SVEB?

SVEB has three bodies that make decisions: the Assembly of Delegates, the Board of Directors and the Forum Romand. The Assembly of Delegates is the highest body of SVEB and meets once a year in May. After the assembly, the association organizes a symposium on a current education policy topic, which is free of charge for all interested continuing education stakeholders.
The Forum Romand is an advisory body to the office in French-speaking Switzerland.

What is part of the SVEB's remit?

The SVEB has various areas of responsibility, including the project "SVEB Certificate". This certificate enables qualified individuals to conduct and lead continuing education in their area of expertise. Formerly known as "SVEB I", the certificate has now been replaced by two training courses. The "SVEBCertificate Instructor - Conducting Learning Events" is for people who want to lead groups, while the "SVEB Certificate Instructor - Individual Coaching" is for people who want to accompany adults individually in private lessons.
